How To Set Up A Payment Gateway In Swoogo

Set Your Event to "Paid Event"

In order to set up payments, the event must be set up as a "Paid Event." Navigate to Event Setup > Event Details > Settings and select "Paid Event," then Save:

Info
TESTING:
Due to PCI compliance regulations, if you add a "test" registrant to your event and charge that registrant (to ensure the payment gateway works correctly), you will not be able to delete that registrant from the event after testing is completed. Our recommendation is to set up a "Payment Gateway Test" event in your account (separate from the actual event in your account) to ensure payments are working properly.
Some payment gateways allow for account level testing against a live API connection. Even if a payment gateway allows for account-level testing, we still recommend following the steps in the article as a best practice.
Currently, only Stripe, Mollie, & Braintree allow attendees to use a 3D Secure Credit Card.

Payment Gateway Integrations

Swoogo currently integrates with the following 17 companies:

*Tokenization available

Alert
Authorize.net does not support multiple currencies in a single gateway and no conversion will occur. For example: If an event is set for Euros, but the Authorize.net gateway is set for USD, a charge for 40 Euros will be registered as a charge for 40 USD. No conversion will take place, meaning that any difference between the currencies will be lost.

Add Your Payment Gateway

You can add your payment gateway credentials at the account level:

  1. Navigate to your Account Hub > select Payment Gateways under Fees & Payments:

  2. Click +Add Payment Gateway > select desired payment gateway:

  3. Name the payment gateway:

  4. Enter gateway-specific settings.
  5. Choose accepted currencies.
  6. Determine accepted card types.
  7. Enter Other Settings.
  8. Click Save & Exit.

Info
Although your payment gateway will allow you to take different types of currency, each event can be set up with only one currency.

Test Your Gateway

Most payment gateways that we integrate will allow you to test if you've setup your credentials correctly by clicking on the Test Now button.

Alert
This test will not work with the below payment gateways, as these gateways do not allow for test card transaction against a live API connection.
  1. Braintree
  2. CardConnect
  3. Chase Merchant Services
  4. Moneris

The best suggestion for testing any gateway setup is to run a live transaction for a small amount on your event against a live card to verify that payment is actually made. You can then refund this transaction to the card.
